Winner in the “Supporting Elective Recovery through Digital” category for its innovative use of AI to transform patient care

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) has been announced as a winner at the HSJ Digital Awards 2025, receiving top recognition in the “Supporting Elective Recovery through Digital” category. This award celebrates the Trust’s outstanding results in enhancing referral management through the implementation of LOLA, Tucuvi’s clinically validated Conversational AI.

Selected in a highly competitive edition of the awards — which saw a record 432 entries and 205 projects shortlisted across all categories — the Trust stood out for its Wheelchair Service transformation, which leverages autonomous phone conversations to automate initial screenings.

This digital-first approach has enabled:

  • Significant reductions in waiting times
  • Elimination of the referral backlog
  • Better use of clinical resources, allowing professionals to focus on direct patient care

Bridgit Vorster-Gibbons, Principal Occupational Therapist at SWFT, previously shared:

AI-powered automation has been a game changer in allowing us to manage increasing referrals more efficiently while ensuring patients receive the right level of care in a timely manner. By streamlining screening, our clinicians can focus on providing hands-on support where it’s most needed, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

At Tucuvi, we’re proud to support pioneering teams like SWFT who are leading the way in safe and meaningful digital transformation.
